Nutrisystem, Week 2 (205 lbs.)

The first week on Nutrisystem had highs and lows. The first that comes to mind is that the kids were envious of our boxes of 'special' food. But that curiosity was short-lived once they tasted the food.

Nutrisystem's foods are high in proteins and low in carbs. That's good. However, they're also very high in sodium and preservatives. Not good, but no big surprise. As for taste, some items are much better than others.

Tasty
  • Pancakes
  • Cereals
  • Turkey hot dogs
  • Pizza
  • Cheese Rottini
  • Southwest Chicken & Rice
  • Caramel popcorn
  • Chicken noodle soup
Gross
  • Blueberry muffins
  • Pasta alfredo with brocolli
  • Breakfast pastries (cardboard)
  • Scrambled Eggs
  • Soy nacho chips
  • Chocolate pudding

My wife and I have gone out a few times this past week, so we've skipped some of the Nutrisystem meals. However, I think that is worked into the plan (I've heard you are allowed to take weekends 'off'). Still, we have tried to limit our portions and skip desserts while eating out. It's difficult, but we felt good afterwards, knowing that we didn't succumb to the temptations.

And the results? drumroll.........

My wife and I each lost 3 lbs. in this first week. I only wish I hadn't ordered so many scrambled eggs.
